Ted, the one on the viewer’s right, came to visit from school and met Pooh. This picture was taken for my daughter’s journal of Ted’s stay with us. I used the infamous Canon EF 50mm f/1.8 II lens which, when mounted on a 1.6x crop factor body like the Rebel XTi/400D, is really a classic portrait lens – equivalent to 80mm on a 35mm full-frame camera with a maximum aperture of f/1.8. You can see the shallow depth-of-field in this shot – the bears’ feet are slightly fuzzy, and you can see the effect even on the bars in front of and behind the bears, even though their faces are in perfect, sharp focus.
